Every year, across generations, two of the most enduring traditions in human history are retold, relived, and re-experienced.

The story of the Exodus during Passover.
The story of sacrifice, death, and renewal during Easter.

Different faiths. Different histories. Different meanings.

And yet… remarkably similar strategies.

These traditions have endured not because they were marketed better…
…but because they were experienced better.

And therein lies the lesson for every dental practice.

The First Lesson: It Begins With Questions

At the Passover Seder, we do not begin with answers.

We begin with questions.

The Four Questions.
“Why is this night different from all other nights?”

That is not accidental. It is intentional psychology.

Questions create curiosity.
Questions invite engagement.
Questions create ownership.

And that raises an important question for your practice:

How often do you begin with questions instead of rushing to answers?

At The Liberated Practice, we believe the right questions do more than gather information.
They reveal motivation.
They uncover fear.
They expose expectation.
And they help the patient feel seen before they are ever treated.

Consider questions like these:

Why are you here?
Why now?
How will solving this matter to you?

Why did you choose us instead of going somewhere else?

Are you the kind of person who prefers to get ahead of problems before they become bigger?

Or are you someone who tends to wait until there is no longer another option?

Yes, that may be more than four questions. But that is beside the point.

The point is this: the more thoughtfully you ask, the more clearly patients tell you what they want, what they fear, and what they are hoping for. And the more you understand that, the better you can shape an experience that meets—and exceeds—their expectations.

Statements may create compliance.

But questions create connection.

Liberated Insight 🗽
The practices that grow are not always the ones with the best answers.
They are the ones that ask the best questions.

The Second Lesson: Stories Move People, Not Science

The Passover story is not a lecture on ancient history—it is the lived retelling of the Exodus.

Easter is not a theological debate—it is the story of Jesus Christ and transformation through sacrifice and resurrection.

These stories have endured for thousands of years because they are:

  • Emotional
  • Visual
  • Personal
  • Repeatable

Now compare that to how dentistry is often presented:

  • “You have bone loss.”
  • “You need occlusal therapy.”
  • “This appliance is non-inferior…”

Science informs.

Stories transform.

Instead of:

“This appliance will reduce your symptoms…”

Try:

“I had a patient just like you… couldn’t sleep, constant headaches… and within 3 weeks, she told me she finally felt like herself again.”

That is what people remember.
That is what people say YES to.

The Third Lesson: Speak in Multiple Languages

Passover is told in Hebrew, Aramaic… and explained in the vernacular.
Easter traditions span Greek, Aramaic, Latin, and modern languages.

Why?

Because meaning must meet the listener where they are.

In dentistry, we often speak in one language:

Dentistry.

But patients speak:

  • Fear
  • Confusion
  • Hope
  • Cost
  • Outcome

Your role is not to translate dentistry into simpler dentistry.

Your role is to translate it into human meaning.

Example:

  • “You have periodontal disease”
    becomes
  • “This is what’s causing the bleeding you’ve been noticing—and if we address this infection now, we can help you keep your teeth for life.”

The Fourth Lesson: Create a Multi-Sensory Experience

Think about these holidays:

Passover:

  • The taste of matzah and bitter herbs
  • The visual of the Seder plate
  • The sound of storytelling and song

Easter:

  • Music, light, celebration
  • Symbolism of renewal
  • Visual rituals and gathering

These are not just events.

They are immersive experiences.

Now ask yourself:

What does your practice feel like?

  • What do patients hear when they call?
  • What do they see when they walk in?
  • What do they feel when they sit in the chair?

Most practices are clinically excellent…

…but experientially forgettable.

The best practices are the opposite:
Unforgettable before treatment even begins.

The Fifth Lesson: Ritual Creates Culture

These holidays don’t just engage individuals.

They unify families.

They align generations.

They create shared identity.

And that is exactly what your practice needs internally.

A cohesive team is not built on job descriptions.

It is built on:

  • Shared language
  • Shared stories
  • Shared rituals

What are your team’s rituals?

  • Morning huddles with purpose (not just scheduling)
  • Story-sharing of patient wins
  • Celebrating “YES moments”
  • Recognizing acts of Undeniable Hospitality

When your team shares meaning, they deliver consistency.

And consistency builds trust.

The Ties That Bind

Passover and Easter have endured not because they were protected…

…but because they were passed down through experience.

They teach us that:

  • Questions engage
  • Stories persuade
  • Language connects
  • Experiences differentiate
  • Rituals unify

The Challenge for Your Practice

What if your practice wasn’t just a place where dentistry happened…

…but a place where:

  • Patients felt understood
  • Stories were shared
  • Trust was built before treatment
  • Experiences were remembered long after

Because in today’s world—especially with AI answering clinical questions instantly—

Your advantage is no longer information.

It is interpretation, connection, and experience.

A Liberating Thought

The reason these traditions endure is simple:

They are not just told.

They are felt.

And the practices that will thrive moving forward will be the ones that patients don’t just visit…

…but experience.

A Liberating Opportunity

Most dentists are still chasing clicks.
The smart ones are building systems that convert.
